Would you like to be part of the North Norfolk Railway?

There are three ways of doing this:

1. Become a volunteer on the North Norfolk Railway

Further information is available from Sheringham Station or through e-mail.

We also have an active Junior Club whereby youngsters aged between ten and sixteen can take part in supervised activities on the railway.

North Norfolk Railway

The Railway is mainly run by volunteers from all walks of life and age groups.

There are many ways to help and to enjoy yourself at the same time.

  • Drive a steam or diesel engine

  • Operate the Signal boxes

  • Be a Guard or a Station Master

  • Work in the ticket office at one of our three stations

  • Work in our shops or buffets

  • Help maintain the stations and their gardens.

  • Help restore and maintain our coaching stock

  • Work on the trains as a Ticket Inspector or Buffet Car attendant.

  • And many more, too numerous to mention!

Many of our volunteers are skilled in more than one of the above and full training will be given where required. Click here for details.

2. Join the Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway Society (M&GNJRS)

M&GNJRS

You can become a member of the M&GNJRS, a Registered Charity, which is the support organization for the Railway and helps restore the engines and rolling stock. By becoming a member you will enjoy privilege rates for travel and receive our quarterly magazine 'Joint Line' which will update you on progress and events on the railway. Joint Line also includes articles of historical interest about the M&GN. You could also become involved in the Society's many projects to restore and operate a range of steam engines and carriages.

For an information pack, containing more details, please enter your name and postal address in this e-mail.
