Sheringham Level Crossing is set to re-open on March 11th, followed by a 3-day Celebration Gala
Thursday March 11th will be a red letter day in the history not just of the Poppy Line, but of railway preservation. At 2.15pm that day, Britannia steam loco no.70013 Oliver Cromwell will bring the first passenger train over the crossing for 46 years. The opening ceremony will be performed by Pete Waterman, OBE, emphasising the importance of the event to the preservation movement as a whole.
There will be no public services on the NNR on 11th March, but a special Quad-Art train double-headed by the N2 and the N7 will take our VIP guests to Holt to witness the arrival of Oliver Cromwell with the Railway Touring Company's "Broadsman" charter. The charter is now fully booked. The train will leave Holt at 3.40pm, and depart Sheringham for London at 4.10pm.
Please note. The area on the north (town) side of Otterndorf Green will be a reserved enclosure for VIP guests, as will platform 2. Public access to the station (£1 platform ticket) will be limited. Weybourne Station (£1 platform ticket) will be open to the public to see "The Broadsman" pass. Holt Station will be closed to the public.
Lineside photo passes (orange hi-vis compulsory) for the day are £5, but there is no lineside access in the vicinity of Sheringham Station, and none on Network Rail tracks. Click here to apply |
