Over the past few weeks the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus has impacted businesses very severely. No corner of our lives seems untouched or immune to its effects – this includes the Heritage Railway Movement.  Following Government instructions we have had to close the railway and we do not know when we will be permitted to reopen. This is hitting the North Norfolk Railway particularly hard coming at the start of our season.

Although there are Government initiatives in place to soften the blow, these are slow in coming through. We have taken actions to limit our outgoings, including furloughing the staff.  But, in the meantime we need to pay the staff and subsequently claim the refund from HMRC – that means having cash available at a time when our income is zero.

We therefore need to ask for your help: – we understand it may be difficult for many given employment and financial uncertainties.  Our Emergency Appeal (see below) is to help see our Railway through this difficult time, and make sure we’re in good shape and ready to open again as soon as possible.
How to Help:
  • Donate by making a bank transfer to North Norfolk Railway Plc Sort code 20-03-26, Account No  40671169 marking the payment as ‘NNR Appeal’ and adding your name and postcode if space permits. Alternatively please let us know you have made a bank transfer by email to enquiries@nnrailway.co.uk or send via our Enquiry Form.
  • Send a cheque donation made payable to North Norfolk Railway Plc to Accounts Department, North Norfolk Railway, Station Approach, Sheringham Norfolk NR26 8RA. (please include your name and address on the back).
  • Shares can be purchased – initial holding minimum is now £25 (lowered from the £250 previously required), and can be up to £500,000. Click here for Shareholder Application Form
Please complete the form and send to: Accounts Department, North Norfolk Railway, Station Approach, Sheringham NR26 8RA. Due to current circumstances it may be several weeks before share certificates are issued.
  • If you wish the forms can be printed, completed, scanned and returned to accounts@nnrailway.co.uk  If emailing the form, please undertake a bank transfer as per donations and put ‘NNR shares’ along with your surname and postcode in the reference field and include a payment date on the form with a note stating that a bank transfer has already been made.
Please take care and keep safe and well. Together with your help we will make sure that the North Norfolk Railway we all love will be back open as soon as we can.
Thank you for your support in our time of need.
