Santa Special Steam Trains
Join us for a magical seasonal trip. Step onto the platform at Sheringham Station and see the steam gently rising around the carriages as Santa’s Special Train waits for you to board. Grab a hot soup, drink or delicious homemade refreshments from The Old Luggage Office buffet and climb aboard the train of historic carriages ready for a journey to meet Father Christmas himself.
The helpful station staff will show you to your reserved seats where you can settle back, listen for the Guard’s whistle and watch him wave his green flag to send the train on its way. With a toot from the engine and a whoosh of steam you’re off – next stop Santa’s grotto!
Alight at the charming Edwardian Station at Weybourne, enjoy seasonal refreshments for adults and children and stroll through the marvelously decorated and themed Christmas Tree Kingdom en route to see Santa and his elves. There’s a wrapped present for every child and time for photographs before you rejoin the train for the run back to Sheringham.
Trains depart from Sheringham Station at 10:00, 12:05, 14:30 and 16:35 on 27, 28 November, 5, 12, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 & 24 December and at 10:00, 12:05 and 14:30 on 4, 11 and 18 December

Where do I catch the train?
All of our Santa Special trains depart Sheringham Station
Where does the train go?
The train travels to Weybourne Station, where everyone alights to visit Santa’s Grotto plus the enchanting Christmas Tree Kingdom. At Weybourne, everyone will receive a festive treat and a drink as well.
How long is the experience?
The whole experience lasts approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. This includes the train journey to and from Weybourne Station as well as the activities taking place at the station.
What is the Santa Special?
Our Santa Special is a traditional children’s event with a steam train journey to see Santa in his grotto. As part of the ticket, children will receive a flavoured milk drink and cookie plus a quality present from Santa. Adults do not miss out, as they will receive a mince pie and glass of mulled wine.
Is there more than one train a day?
Yes we have four departures in a day at 10:00, 12:05, 14:30 and 16:35. We recommend arriving at Sheringham Station 30 minutes before the departure time as this will give you plenty of time to check in and find your reserved seats.
Do we have allocated seats?
Every passenger will have a reserved seat. (Babes in arms should be seated on an adult’s lap for safety)
I have a baby under 1 do I have to pay for them?
Tickets for any children aged 1 and under cost £10.00. Babes in arms should be seated on an adult’s lap for safety.
Do I have to have a child with me to go travel on the Santa Special?
Yes, there must be at least one paying child with every booking. Visitors arriving without a child will be refused entry and not permitted to travel.
What happens if my child is sick on the day?
If your child is sick on the day of travel, please contact us at the earliest possible opportunity.
Can I enter Santa’s Grotto without a ticket?
No, entry to Santa’s Grotto is only possible by travelling on the Santa Specials.
Is the experience accessible for wheelchair-users?
Yes, each train includes an accessible compartment for a wheelchair-user and their party. Please telephone the booking office on 01263 820800 to check availability and to book.
Can I take a pushchair on the train?
Unfortunately, there is not space for pushchairs on the Santa Special Train. However, you are very welcome to leave the pushchairs with our staff at Sheringham Station who will lock them away after the train has departed.
Can we take photos?
Yes you can take photos and/or videos at any time.
Can we bring our own food?
Your ticket includes a mince pie and glass of mulled wine for adults and a flavoured milk drink and cookie for children. Unfortunately you cannot consume your own food on our Santa Special Train, but The Old Luggage Office buffet at Sheringham will be open for refreshments.
I’m gluten free. Do you have gluten free mince pies/cookies?
Yes we have gluten free alternatives available, please make a note of dietary requirements on your booking.
Can I bring my dog?
Apologies but no dogs, other than assistance dogs, are allowed on our Santa Special Trains.
